Surprising news from CHIME (College of Healthcare Information Management Executives) today. They ultimately support the proposed new standards to interoperability/EHR regulatory standards for certification... but they suggest postponing the full implementation of the rules for 3 years.
Given we are a decade out from the passage of the HiTech act, this seems like pushing the buck back even further on the possibility of meaningful interoperability. Again, I want to get into these new proposed rules in more detail, but felt that this update was too large to simply let pass without comment. I think this industry push-back should give you an idea of how massive the impact of these proposed changes are going to be!
