THE VALUE OF HEALTHCARE DATA AGGREGATION
Thoughts on Improving Interoperability and Digital Health
Since the passage of the HiTech Act in 2009 the pace of digitizing healthcare data has increased exponentially in the United States. The traditional focus of this effort, on the regulatory side, has concerned healthcare networks and providers. However, the consumer market of gathering health data has also seen massive growth during the same period. These two evolutionary paths have built sophisticated databases of patient data, but these paths are still occurring in parallel and have created massive silos of information that require the patient to stitch together their personal data into incomplete snapshots of their own health and wellness. I have worked to bridge the gap between consumer expectations, and network capabilities of incorporating ng data to help drive clinical and financial outcomes.
